In his own portion of the interview with Oprah, Prince Harry talked about his relationship with his father, Prince Charles of Wales, and how things had become strained. Prince Harry said he felt particularly ‘Let Down’ by his father.
Prince Harry told Oprah that in addition to not picking up his phone calls, he and his father have not been on speaking terms for a while and there was
“a lot to work through”.
For the Duke of Sussex, he was disappointed in his father because he felt he would understand, having shared a loss. Prince Harry is referring to his mother, and Prince Charles’ wife – Princess Diana. Prince Harry has not shied away from drawing comparisons between Meghan’s battle with the royal family and what his mother faced. In the interview, he also commented that he did not want history repeating itself.

His relationship with his brother Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge, was also touched on in the interview. Rumors of a rift between the brothers has been existent for a while, and Harry first commented on it in a 2019 documentary by Tom Brady titled Harry and Meghan: An African Journey.
Harry said in the 2019 interview
“The majority of the stuff is created out of nothing but as brothers, you know, you have good days, you have bad days.
“We are certainly on different paths at the moment, but I will always be there for him as I know he will always be there for me. We don’t see each other as much as we used to because we are so busy, but I love him dearly.”
Prince Harry said that while he loves his father and brother, and had compassion for their shared experience, they were all on different paths.
The Duke of Sussex spoke fondly of his grandmother, the queen, saying they had spoken a lot more in the past year than they had in years and he had an undying and deep respect for her.
The royals who left their official duties in March 2020 seem to be content with their new life in the United States.
