CCTV captured a nun trying to dispose the dead body of a fellow sister crammed into a suitcase.
It was a passerby that found the body of the dead nun, aged 58, in the suitcase on April 8 where she was disposed, the person then informed police about the strange discovery.
What Police First Thought
At first, her death was linked to a drugs cartel killing in Santiago, not until police began a full-scale murder hunt they found out the footage that reveals that the dead body was actually abandoned by the nun.
Dressed in the blue and black robes of her religious order, the woman, who has not been named, walked past a home where she was recorded on their security system.
Cause of Death
Police investigation reveals that the deceased nun had apparently died of natural causes a year ago, per autopsy reports.
Words From the Nun
The nun captured by CCTV told police that the pair had made a pact to take care of each other beyond death.
The situation only changed when the 80-year-old nun’s daughter visited and decided the woman should be laid to rest, investigators concluded.
Deputy Governor Juan Fonseca declared the dead nun had been kept in a case as an act of ‘affection and loyalty’.
It is worth mentioning that the 80-year-old nun was not arrested but could be charged with violations of the health code. Investigation continues anyway.
As it is, both women did not belong to a formal religious order but were ‘consecrated laywomen’ who lived a cloistered life in habits and robes.
