Rhod Gilbert‘s face was soaked in tears as he detailed his cancer battle on The Great Celebrity Bake Off Stand Up To Cancer special on Sunday.

Thrilled fans/viewers who have been anticipating the Carmarthen comedian’s return to TV, got visibly emotional when he explained how ‘lucky’ he is able to return.

It was a sigh of relief when the 55-year-old got the all clear in October 2023 after being diagnosed with head and neck cancer in 2022.

What He Said

‘For me, It’s really really emotional to be here. There was a point where I didn’t really know what the future held. Just to be here, to be anywhere, is pretty good. Amazing, yeah,’ he said on the show.

He continued: ‘I’m lucky to be here at all. I realised when I got cancer that I had been plodding through life thinking “other people get cancer”.’

Hearing this, his grateful fans were in awe of Rhod and quickly took to social media to express how ‘well’ he was looking.
