SCANDAL – Kyle Walker has been slammed by fans as ‘vile’ and ‘selfish’ after he admitted to fathering a secret child during his marriage to ‘best friend’ Annie Kilner.
The footballer, 33, made a tearful public apology on Sunday, as he confessed he made ‘idiot choices and idiot decisions’.
But people were not moved by his honesty, and took to social media to accuse Kyle of trying to garner sympathy and make himself into the ‘victim’.
Kyle’s two-year marriage to Annie, who he met as a teenager, is in tatters after the Manchester City and England full-back was named as the father of influencer Lauryn Goodman’s five-month old daughter.
He had already fathered a son, three year-old Kairo, with Lauryn following an earlier separation from Annie in 2020.
Is Annie Pregnant?
In a rare interview about his personal life, Kyle was close to tears as he reflected on moving away from their family home in Cheshire and spending enforced time away from his three children with Annie, who is currently pregnant with their fourth.
However, many people online slammed Kyle as a ‘disgrace’ and questioned why he was choosing to do a public interview instead of speaking directly to his wife, saying he was clearly looking for sympathy for a ‘self-inflicted scandal’.
Commenters not Smiling
One person tweeted: ‘how has Kyle Walker managed to make himself seem like a victim and had people reach out to him to support him like all of these issues aren’t entirely self-inflicted’.
Another added: ‘Why do cheaters like #KyleWalker confess all in public normally to clear their conscience no other reason. Not mistakes choices’.
While a third asked: ‘So we’re supposed to feel sorry for Kyle Walker coz he can’t keep his [redacted] in his pants now? #jogon’
A fourth echoed: ‘That Kyle Walker interview defo isn’t gonna go down as he’d hoped. What’s he doing the muppet?’
Someone else said: ‘I don’t doubt that Kyle Walker is in pain, but mostly he is feeling sorry for himself. What was that Sun interview supposed to be for? He could just have written his wife an email rather than engage in self-flagellation with a side of condemnation for the other woman.’
A sixth added: ‘Kyle Walker with the world’s most “Feel sorry for me” apology’ while a seventh raged: ‘A prime example of a narcissistic, selfish person – with too much time, too much money and no common sense’.
An eighth fumed: ‘Kyle Walker is a disgrace. He has continually been a love rat & if she were his best friend & soul mate, he wouldn’t have done this once let alone twice- & there’s also other women. He’s a disgrace. The poor kids involved.’
Annie Took him Back the First Time
In 2020, Lauryn confirmed the father of her oldest child, son Kairo, was Kyle and the footballer broke the news to his devastated wife hours before it went public.
He moved out of the family home to rental accommodation in nearby Hale, Cheshire before Annie agreed to take him back, with Kyle agreeing to sever all contact with Goodman beyond his ongoing financial commitments.
Kyle Didn’t Keep His Words
In August 2022 though Lauryn revealed she was planning to relocate closer to Kyle with son Kairo.
Kyle explained how he met her at a solicitors’ office to try to stop the move, which was when met his son for the first time and the couple resumed contact.
The Straw That Broke the Camel’s Back
In early October 2022, the footballer travelled to London for groin surgery and met Lauryn. He confirmed the pair ended up sleeping together.
Weeks later Lauryn broke the news she was pregnant again, with Kyle revealing he almost ‘fainted’ when she called during a training session.
Kyle kept Lauryn’s pregnancy a secret from his wife and has said it was Annie’s own pregnancy which was ‘the straw that broke the camel’s back.
Lauryn Texted Annie
While her footballer husband was away with his club, Lauryn messaged Annie on December 27 2023, revealing the truth about their relationship and the parentage of her second child.
Annie, who is expecting her fourth child with the footballer, announced they would be separating earlier this month after 13 years.
The footballer has since moved out of their £2.5million home in Prestbury while Annie remains at the property with their three sons.
‘My little boy goes to sleep with me every night and to not have him… I’m used to being away for long periods of time with England,’ he said, his voice breaking.
‘We say goodnight on FaceTime. But to know that I’m not with him because of my mistake – mistake is probably the wrong word, my choices – that’s what pains me.’
The split was confirmed days before it was revealed he was the father of Lauryn’s daughter, known only as ‘KW’.
The 81-cap England international originally broke his silence by apologising to his wife for the ‘upset’ he’d caused her, a nod to his numerous cheating scandals.
He told The Sun: ‘How could I hurt someone I love so much? That’s something I need to find in myself.
‘I need to find out why I have done this and why situations have occurred. I am human and I’ve made mistakes on and off the field.’
