VIOLENCE – The growing feud between Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion has escalated once again, this time with Minaj bringing up Megan’s late mother.
As it Happened
While Nicki, 41, and Megan, 28, had previously collaborated on the 2019 hit Hot Girl Summer, tensions escalated and came to a head with Megan’s new song Hiss.
That track features the lyric, ‘These hoes don’t be mad at Megan / these hoes mad at Megan’s Law,’ referring to the US law requiring law enforcement to share information about registered sex offenders with the public.
The lyric was a perceived by Nicki’s fans as a diss at her husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender and was convicted of attempted rape charges, spending four years in prison.
What Happened to Minaj’s Brother?
The lyric may have also been aimed at Minaj’s brother, Jelani Maraj, who was convicted in 2017 of predatory sexual assault for the rape of his 11-year-old stepdaughter.
A judge sentenced Maraj to 25 years to life in prison in January 2020, after a 2018 appeal failed.
Minaj Then Mentioned Megan’s Mother
Now Minaj has fired back in an Instagram live video where she tells Megan to, ‘conjure up her mother and apologize’ while also bashing her for the Tory Lane shooting.
‘You let just everyone be thrown under the bus. You let Da Baby be thrown under the bus, Tory (Lanez), your best friend, your mom. You better go conjure up your mother and say… and apologize,’ Minaj said on the IG live session.
Who was Megan’s Mother?
Megan’s mother, Holly Thomas, passed away in March 2019 from a cancerous brain tumor, and she mentioned her death on Flip Flop from her 2022 album Traumazine.
What Will Happen Now?
Megan hasn’t commented publicly on Nicki’s comments quite yet, though plenty of fans have on social media.
‘Nicki is completely losing me, this was real nasty of her,’ tweeted X user @4theluvofbria.
@positionsmafia added, ‘I can’t believe we saw the day nicki became insecure and bitter,’ which launched a lengthy thread.
