IRAN – Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said four of its members including a spy chief and his deputy were among those killed in an airstrike in Syria that it has blamed on Israel.

Dramatic video shows a towering column of smoke rising above Damascus, while pictures of the aftermath show a building razed to the ground.

What the Target Was?

Local media reports that the target was a residential building in the Syrian capital.

State TV said the building, which is in the upmarket Mazzeh neighbourhood near a number of embassies, was the residence of Iranian advisers in Syria.

The death toll increased to 10 after bodies that were still trapped under the rubble were recovered, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

In a statement on Iranian state television, the Revolutionary Guards confirmed that four of its military advisers were killed and blamed Israel, which has so far made no comment on the strikes.

It comes after an apparent Israeli strike took out top Hamas commander Saleh al-Arouri in the Lebanese capital of Beirut earlier this month, amid warnings that the war in Gaza is spreading across the region.
