A woman set her husband ablaze inside a fish shop in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
The incident, which was captured on security camera footage, occurred on Monday, December 4th.
The horrific incident
The victim, identified as 50-year-old André Chapeta, was doused with a flammable liquid by his wife, Ana Maria Paixão, who then set the liquid alight with a lighter, causing Chapeta to be engulfed in flames.
The shocking footage shows Chapeta running into the shop while on fire.
He died eventually
Despite being rescued by firefighters and rushed to Getúlio Vargas Hospital, Chapeta succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Friday, December 8th.
The severity of his burns proved to be fatal, marking a tragic end to this shocking incident.
What led to the fight
The motive behind this horrifying act remains unclear.
Following the incident, Ana Maria was taken to the police station, but it remains unconfirmed if she has been arrested.
The case is currently being investigated by the 38th DP (Brás de Pina), who are working tirelessly to unravel the circumstances that led to this gruesome act of violence.
