Kate Middleton Cuts A Solemn Figure At The Cenotaph

Dressed entirely in black the Princess of Wales could be seen wearing a pair of pearl and diamond leaf earrings that are believed to have once belonged to her grandmother-in-law.

The Princess of Wales appeared to hold back tears as she stood alongside Queen Camilla and watched King Charles lay his wreath.

Her dazzling studs are thought to be part of a brooch and earring set that belonged to the late monarch.

The elegant brooch is one that Kate has favoured in recent years having last been seen wearing it during the Queen’s funeral in September 2022.

She has only been seen wearing the brooch once before, in Belgium back in 2017.

Despite being rarely seen by the public eye, the brooch was worn by the Queen in 1999 during her visit to South Korea.

Aside from the three poppies that the Princess, 41, always wears on Remembrance Day the royal mum also chose to wear her Fleet Air Arm brooch.

Kate was appointed as Commodore in chief of the Fleet Air Arm by King Charles in August this year.

The reason why the Royal Family wears three poppies has not been confirmed.

However, one theory is that they wear multiple brooches to honour family members who have fought and died in wars.

For example, Kate Middleton’s great-grandmother had three brothers who were killed in action during the First World War.

Joined by Queen Camilla the Princess watched from a balcony as King Charles today led an emotional two-minute silence for Remembrance Day at the Cenotaph.

The King, 74, marched into the solemn service with his son by his side in peaceful scenes in central London – uniting the nation to thank the war heroes who served our country.

The service appeared calm and respectful after protests saw violence break out across central London yesterday morning – and drag out in the hours that followed.

The King this morning laid a wreath at the foot of the Cenotaph, the memorial where chaotic scenes yesterday unfolded as thugs threw bottles at police.

Prince William also paid his respects at the memorial.
