Prince Harry’s decision to air even more personal grievances in a new Netflix documentary about wounded servicemen leaves “a bitter taste in the mouth,” according to Richard Eden, editor of Daily Mail Diary.
In his latest Palace Confidential newsletter, Eden praises the work of the Invictus Games – a multi-sport event founded by Prince Harry in 2014 – but is critical of Harry’s decision to return the spotlight to his own problems.
“The Invictus Games are one of the Duke of Sussex’s enduring achievements. They help wounded ex-servicemen provide a new focus and challenge and create new friendships and support networks,” he writes.

So, his new documentary series for Netflix, Heart of Invictus, gave Prince Harry the chance to tell some inspiring stories from competitors worldwide.
“Unfortunately, from what I’ve seen of the series released on Wednesday by the American streaming giant, Harry couldn’t resist once again taking this invaluable opportunity to talk about himself.”
In comments widely seen as another swipe at the royal family, the prince tells documentary makers he had no support network around him and that Princess Diana’s death was “never discussed.”
Eden concludes that while Harry has made similar comments before, “doing this on a television program that is supposed to be about the courageous, inspiring participants of the Invictus Games leaves a bitter taste.”
The next Invictus Games will start on Saturday, September 9 in Düsseldorf.
