In an Instagram post, the ‘2 Be Loved’ singer shared a video clip of her tearing up at Queen Bey’s stadium show in Warsaw, Poland on Tuesday night.
Beyoncé had included Lizzo in a list of iconic Black women entertainers including Nina Simone, Lauryn Hill and Beyoncé‘s sister Solange Knowles.
In the caption, Lizzo shared more about why the Bey shoutout left her so emotional.
‘In that moment I was thinking about baby me, listening to “Happy Face” by Destiny’s Child and crying myself to sleep because of bullies,’ the singer wrote.
‘I thought about Beyoncé jumping into the room where Tina Turner was waiting to meet her for the first time. I think of what we all mean to people and how cyclical it is.
‘We are all so infinitesimally and maximally connected and significant. It’s an honor. Thank You @beyonce,’ she concluded.
Lizzo has been playing plenty of shows of her own lately and has made it a point to make them a safe haven for all audience members.
In an April concert in Knoxville, Tennessee, Lizzo filled the stage with drag queens in a glittery protest against the state’s legislation designed to restrict drag performances in public.
