A man has been arrested for stalking and harassment after he showed up at Taylor Swift’s home, it has been claimed.
Mitchell Taebel claimed that he is the ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ star’s ‘soulmate’, and left a string of concerning pictures and messages for the 33-year-old and her team, as well as her dad.
According to reports, the 36-year-old has been charged with intimidation, harassment, stalking by threatening serious injury or death and invasion of privacy.
He is accused of sending pictures of weapons to members of Swift’s team on March 25 and threatening to ‘destroy them’, according to local television station WGN.
A few days later, he reportedly left a message for her father in which he insisted that he was her ‘soulmate’, and can make her ‘secure’.
Around this time, Taebel is thought to have messaged Swift a voicenote in which he declared that they needed to meet, and that he would ‘wear a bomb on his chest’.
In April, he was also accused of sending threatening notes to one of her dancers on social media, threatening to ‘destroy them’.
Court documents obtained by the outlet reportedly show that he is alleged to have posted a picture of someone firing a weapon at a gun range, stating: ‘If today there is the sexual performance of Vigilant S**t, you can be sure that we will destroy you and all the other dancers and (Swift) too, I think you know what happened to Joe Alwyn.’
Last month, Taebel reportedly travelled from his home in Indiana to Swift’s apartment complex in Nashville, before her Eras performance, and snuck in through an unsecured door.
When at the building, it is claimed that he asked security staff if the Grammy-winner was home, after which they called the police – but he disappeared before officers arrived at the scene.
The publication reports that he went on to obtain a ticket for her next concert, despite being on a ‘security threat / concern list’, and was escorted out when he was recognized.
Swift’s management company were granted a temporary restraining order on May 11 while in Nashville, and he was later charged with stalking and harassment on May 31.
On June 2, he was arrested and WGN reports that he is still in jail, with his next court date set for July 27.
Meanwhile, in March, Taebel posted a bizarre TikTok video in which he urged fellow Taylor Swift fans to prepare for the Eras tour by ‘being a step ahead of Taylor wherever she goes… watch her every move.’
The suspect says on his website that he is running for president and allegedly contacted governor’s offices in several states to say his campaign will be part of Swift’s Eras Tour on the same day and contacted her team again.
In 2018, Taebel was arrested after engaging in a high-speed police chase in Arizona.
Following his arrest, he told police officers: ‘It is absolutely legal to resist arrest, with force, to the extent of taking an officers life if necessary.’
