Mom Says Her Three-Year-Old Son Was ‘Snack-Shamed’ By His Teachers

A fuming mum has told how she was snack shamed by her three-year-old son’s nursery teacher.

Megan, who has now named the situation ‘Pringle Gate,’ explained how the teacher scribbled a “passive-aggressive” note on the rubbish in her child’s lunchbox after noticing she’d packed him some crisps.

After confronting the teacher, the mum-of-two confessed she was not happy with the response she received and so decided to take matters into her own hands – by removing her son from the school.

In the clip posted to TikTok (@peaveymegan), Megan explained: “I sent my son to school with Pringles, which is a very age-appropriate snack for a three-year-old.

“And this is what the school sent.”

Megan could then be seen holding up an empty Pringles pot which had a handwritten message scribbled on it.

It read: “Please help us make healthy choices at school. They snack-shamed my three-year-old.

“They snack-shamed me by writing that passive-aggressively on his rubbish. At our house, we do not label things as ‘healthy’ and ‘unhealthy’ because that starts eating disorders.”

In a follow-up video, Megan noted how she “initiated the conversation” with the teacher and made clear she was “disappointed” by how the situation was handled.

She explained: “I wish that they had reached out to me directly.  I said it was kind of passive-aggressive to write it on his empty Pringles Cup.”

However, the working mum went on to say how she wasn’t greeted with the response she’d anticipated.

Instead, she claimed the teacher argued that she was the one being passive-aggressive because a note was sent home about packing ‘healthy’ foods for their kids.

Megan, who insisted she didn’t receive the note, remained firm that she wasn’t packing her son unhealthy lunches.

“I would pack Pringles with a granola bar, yogurt, fruit, all that kind of stuff,” she said. “So, I didn’t really think it was applicable to me. I didn’t think that those messages applied.”

The teacher refused to apologize and instead, took things a step further.

“My son’s been [at this school] for quite some time and we had him registered for their summer program for three days a week. And at the end of the conversation, she shared, ‘We no longer have a part-time spot for your son this summer.'”

Megan recalled: “It was just so uncalled for and disrespectful and unsettling.”

She then confirmed how she decided to remove her son from the nursery.

The video has since gone viral, racking up a whopping 568k views and hundreds of comments – with many quick to offer their opinion on the matter.

“Send Pringles the next day that says ‘when you buy it, you can decide what the snack is,'” suggested one.

A second quipped: “On his birthday…send Pringles for EVERY kid in the class.”

A third commented: “I’d tell them maybe they need to provide the snacks if they know what he needs.”

Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: “Me personally I’m petty as hell and would probably send a new Pringles can the next day with an even more passive-aggressive message.”

And a further noted: “I cannot even explain how out of line and wild this seems to me- on the school’s part.”
