A teenager has been arrested after he and two accomplices mugged a woman on the beach, taking her gold necklace and swallowing it to escape arrest.
The teen was picked up by cops in Sao Paolo, Brazil, after he and two other teens stole from the woman and scoffed the metal jewellery to avoid getting nicked.
The incident took place on Sunday (April 23) in the coastal town of Guarujá in São Paulo.
Police were on patrol in the neighbourhood of Enseada when they received the call from the woman after the teens fled on bikes.
The youths remain unnamed but were spotted by officers a little further down the road, stopping them without any problems.
The suspects were then taken to a nearby medical facility after cops were unable to find anything on them.
X-rays on one of the teens revealed he had swallowed the chain and that it was stuck in his stomach.
As a result, from the hospital, they were taken to Guarujá police headquarters where where an official robbery report was registered.
