The Queen Was More Of A Mother To Me Than My Own – Sarah Ferguson Reveals

Sarah Ferguson has claimed that the late Queen was like a second mother to her. She claimed this after speaking on how her own mother walked out on her family when she was just 12.

Sarah is the mother to two of the late Queen’s granddaughters – Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. She told the Daily Mail: “One of the reasons I’m a good mother is because my mother wasn’t present at all.

“She left me when I was 12 [to move to South Africa], so I know what it’s like to be bought up without a mother. That’s why the Queen [Elizabeth II] was so amazing because she was more of a mother to me than my own.”

Sarah described being a mother to her own two daughters as “one of the best jobs”, adding that she is a “present” parent.

She added: “When my children were little I spent time with them, focusing on them and listening to them. I would help them understand and label their feelings.”

Sarah – who was married to Prince Andrew for 10 years – then went on to praise her own daughters as parents.

She added that she is in “awe” of them for being “wonderful mothers”.

Both Beatrice and Eugenie became mothers in 2021.
