Foreign rapist still living in the UK three years after Keir Starmer opposed deportation

Jermaine Stewart was jailed for six years for raping a woman who fell asleep on his sofa after a party is still living in Britain after dodging deportation in the wake of Sir Keir Starmer’s campaigning against removals flights, EsB can reveal.

The victim was due to be sent back to Jamaica in December 2020.

But he lodged a last-minute claim to avoid being put on the flight and is still in the UK fighting removal, sources say.

Ten months before Stewart was due to be removed, Sir Keir signed a letter opposing all further deportations.

And days before the charter flight was due to take off, a host of celebrities signed an open letter calling for it to be abandoned, including supermodel Naomi Campbell, Line of Duty star Thandiwe Newton and 007’s Miss Moneypenny actress Naomie Harris.

Eventually, 13 criminals were deported on the flight but lawyers for another 23 – including Stewart – succeeded in having them removed from the aircraft’s passenger list.

A border security source said: ‘It’s a perennial problem – we’re constantly frustrated by the courts and endless legal appeals.

‘It never seems to end and we’re stuck with these people for years when we’ve had solid ground to deport them.’

It comes after DailyMail revealed Thursday that foreign rapist Fabian Henry is still in Britain more than three years after dodging an earlier removals flight to Jamaica.

Henry was jailed for 12 years for raping a 17-year-old girl twice and for abducting and having sex with a girl of 15 while on bail.

Days before he was due to be sent home, dozens of MPs, including Sir Keir, signed a letter to then-prime minister Boris Johnson which demanded that ‘all further deportations are cancelled’.
