Emergency crews surrounded the Trump Tower after reports of an active shooter yesterday.

The woman armed with a rifle who entered Trump Tower in Chicago was arrested after an hourslong standoff with SWAT officers, as people were urged to stay away.

The woman brandished the firearm as she entered Trump International Hotel and Tower around 11.35am on Wednesday, police told the Chicago Sun-Times.

Cops were called to an apartment on the 27th floor of the skyscraper where a woman reportedly went after saying ‘she was tired of being abused by her husband’, the newspaper reported.

The woman was taken into custody and transported to a hospital to be evaluated, police said. No one was injured and there was no threat to the public.

Cops confirmed to NBC Chicago that they received a call of service to the skyscraper at 401 N Wabash Avenue in the downtown, but did not provide further information.

Law enforcement, including SWAT officers, were concentrated at the entrance of Trump Tower by Kinzie Street and Wabash Avenue.

Traffic was closed in both directions on Wabash Avenue between Hubbard Street and Wacker Drive, according to Total Traffic.
