A person close to the royal family reported that Prince Andrew is no longer welcome at Buckingham Palace, nor can he use offices or staff on the orders of his brother, King Charles III.
Andrew, 62, resigned from the Royal Family nearly three years ago over his links to sex trafficking duo Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
The information, released by The Sun newspaper, reverses the decision of Queen Elizabeth II, who allowed Andrew to continue to use the palace and retain a small staff.
Now that Charles III is king, he has been making moves, some of which make it clear that he is cutting ties with several members of his family, such as his son Harry and brother Andrew.
“Any presence at the Palace has officially ended,” a source told the outlet. “The King has made it clear. He is not an active member of the royals. He’s on his own.”
Although Andrew is still allowed to live in a house on the Windsor estate, relations are increasingly strained between the brothers, and the banishment is the latest punishment since he denied knowing Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of having sex with him at the behest of Epstein and Maxwell.
Andrew was stripped of his military and royal titles and was not allowed to wear his military uniform to the Queen’s funeral. After this, Charles told his brother that he would never return to royal life. Last month, the king allegedly stripped Andrew of his 24-hour security detail.
Despite the palatial exile, Andrew is expected to spend Christmas dinner with King Charles and the rest of the royal family. The despondent prince is also likely to retain, for now, his 31-bed Royal Lodge on the government-funded Windsor estate.
