Husband reportedly shot wife dead before turning gun on himself in Christmas Day murder-suicide. Thornton Police confirmed that they responded to reports of a structural fire at Kingdom Hall before finding the bodies of a man and a woman at 9am.

A bomb squad is also responding to a number of ‘suspicious devices’ that were found at the scene at 951 Milky Way as witnesses claim they saw a suspect throw a Molotov cocktail into the building as emergency service raced to the homicide.

Thornton Police added that there are ‘no known threats’ to the community and witnesses are being interviewed.

In a statement, they said: ‘The individuals were married and former members of the Kingdom Hall congregation.

‘The Adams County Sheriff’s Office hazardous Material Unit is currently investigating suspicious devices found at the scene.

‘The identities of the deceased will be released at a later date by the Adams County Coroner’s office.’

A bomb squad van was also seen on the scene, along with the Adams County Sheriff’s department’s Hazardous Materials Unit. 

Resident Luis Sanchez witnessed that he heard gunshots on Sunday morning.

He said he looked outside to see a woman lying on the ground outside, adding: ‘It’s very sad. It’s Christmas.’

Adams County Fire Department referred to the incident as ‘domestic’ but would not elaborate.

The Jehovah Witnesses at the location usually hold weekly meetings at 9:30 am on Sundays.
