Metropolitan Police officers tackled and arrested a 30-year-old suspicion man after he sparked a fire outside Buckingham Palace.
Dramatic footage going rounds on Twitter shows the blaze outside the front gates of King Charles’ home.
Two officers tackled the man to the ground and restrained him. He was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage. Scotland Yard are currently trying to establish a motive.
Witnesses of the incident said the police arrived ‘within seconds’ of the blaze starting.
Police spokesman said: ‘Shortly after 22.08hrs on Tuesday, 20 December, a 30-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after a small fire was seen near the Buckingham Palace gates.
‘The man has been taken into custody. ‘The fire has been extinguished.’
The footage shows the suspect pushed up against the palace gates by an officer before the pair fell to the ground where a second officer assisted the arrest.
