A woman has disappeared after she and her husband tried to fight off a shark while snorkeling in Hawaii.
The husband told authorities he searched for his wife but swam back to shore after he was unable to find her.
Dennison was unable to provide any information on the type of shark involved and said there have had no reports of sharks in the water.
First responders and officers from the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement are now on the scene trying to find her.
The MFD rescue boat is also responding. More details will be released when they become available, police said.
Shark warning signs were up from the Mana Kai condominiums to Ulua Point until after an all-clear is issued.
The name of the couple has not been released. Search crews were deployed after being alerted to the shark attack 50-yards from shore at Keawakapu Point in South Maui.
