People say that relationships are for matured minds. This is for the reason that you date, with the aim and purpose of settling down. Relationships come with lots of challenges, and if you are not prepared or ready for it, you will be forced to find the easy way out. The important thing however, is to know when you are ready for a relationship, and not just related to age. Here are 3 ways to know that you are ready for a relationship.
You’ve Let Go Of The Checklist
When we were growing up, we all had some sort of bucket list or checklist on the things and qualities we wanted in our partners. This was a sign that we were immature, and we were not really ready for a relationship. Whether you are 16 or 30,a ridiculous checklist shows you are not yet ready. When you are emotionally mature to get into a relationship, you will realize that it is not possible to find someone who will possess all those qualities you wanted. Once you get to this point, looks and material possessions do not count as much as your happiness and comfort, and that is when you are ready.
You Are Happy With Yourself And Your Life
The older and wiser we get, we realize that we do not need anyone to make us happy. We are the only ones that can make ourselves happy. A lot of people go I to relationships, hoping to find happiness in others, but that is not the case. Other times, we place so much pressure on ourselves to be happy. The moment you are content with where you are in life, and you know that your happiness is only by your effort only then are you ready for a relationship.
You’re Ready To Compromise
Being in a relationship means you will not always have things your way. Being in a relationship means you have to think about that other significant person too, and not just yourself. People who are selfish or self-centered cannot cope with this situation because it has always been about them. If you are not comfortable letting go of some things, or making sacrifices for others, then you may not be completely ready even if you are 28 or 30 years of age. When you have learned to compromise for the sake of the other person, you are now emotionally ready for a relationship.
