Prince Harry and Meghan Markle has reportedly donated unspecified amounts of money to charities in Nigeria to provide support and relief to people affected by devastating flooding. This donation came after Meghan disclosed on her Archetypes podcast that she 43% Nigerian from her genealogy reports.
Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex and wife of Prince Harry, disclosed in the sixth episode of her audio series that is actually 43% Nigerian as discovered from the genealogy test she conducted a couple of years back. Following the audio episode was a press release, where she stated that Prince Harry and herself had made donations to charities in Nigeria to help children and others that have been affected by the flooding.
The flooding incident in Nigeria has been going on for a while now, and it is as a result of heavy rainfall and water release from Cameroon dam, and so far, has killed about 600 people, while displacing more than 1.2 million civilians and causing havoc on properties and about 440,000 hectares of land across Nigeria.
States that have been mostly affected by the flooding include Bayelsa, Anambra, Delta, Rivers and the nations capital Abuja.
This relief donated by the Sussexes will help in providing relief to the families that have been affected, and to deliver supplies to families that have been affected. The donations have been acknowledged and accepted by Nigerian charities, and will be very helpful in providing help to those who have been gravely affected by the flood.
