The world’s dirtiest man has died at the age of 94, just months after taking a bath for the first time in years. The man, Amu Haji or Uncle Haji as he was commonly called wans an Iranian Hermit, and he died in Dezhgah, a village in the southern province of Fars, Iran. He died on a sunday.
According to people who knew him quite well, and the district head of the village, Uncle Haji believed he would fall sick if he ever cleaned himself, and thus avoided cleaning as well as fresh food. He credited his fear of water to protecting himself from sickness. According to people, he would feed on roadkill, and smoke pipes that were filled with animal waste.
Uncle Hajid lived in a cinder-block shack, and was always covered in soot. It is believed that he experienced some emotional setback in his younger years that made him decide not to take a bath anymore. He was reported to not have had a bath with water and soap for more than 60 years.
Everyone who knew him knows that he was strongly against bathing. On one occasion years back, a group of villager tried to force him to take a bath by taking him to a river nearby, but Uncle Hajid reportedly threw himself out of the car and ran.
A couple of months back, he was finally forced to take a bath by the villagers, and he dies months after. This meant he was really serious about getting sick if he ever had a bath. As Uncle Hajid never married, he was buried on Tuesday evening in the city of Farashband.
