The incident at the Lekki tollgate on the 20th of October 2020 will always be remembered by Nigerian citizens. The ENDSARS shooting commonly called ”Lekki massacre” is a sad day to recall. Several protesters, mostly youths had taken to the streets to protest bad governance and mistreatment of youths by policemen and SARS operatives. This protest was carried out in almost all the states in Nigeria, but on the 20th day of October, things took a different turn for the worst as protesters were gunned down.
With several witnesses to the incident as well as people going live on the incident, lives were lost and people reported missing or arrested after that day.
Two years have gone by, and Nigerians remember the victims of the massacre by either posting on their online spaces, or, until recently, marching peacefully to the lekki tollgate as a sign that we remember. With the sad news and families crying out for justice for their dead, some individuals were greatly affected as they could have been one of the victims of the massacre.
One of the aforementioned individuals, Jacob Desmond, who could have been one of the victims was seen crying profusely at the Lekki tollgate as he recalled that he could have been dead on this date two years ago. He was apparently present at the tollgate two years ago, but fortunately, was not harmed. He was then approached and taken away by policemen as he sat down crying.
