AGN To Actors/Actress: ‘We Will Not Rescue Anyone Caught Over Illicit Drugs’

The AGN has warned actors and
actresses over the taking in of illicit drugs, saying it will not come to the
rescue of anyone caught indulging in it.

The AGN (Actors Guild of
Nigeria) president, Emeka Rollas, made this known while announcing the guild’s
collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for a
nationwide sensitization against drugs.

Emeka said the sensitization
exercise followed a meeting between him and Mohammed Marwa, NDLEA chairman, in
Abuja.

The AGN boss who warned script
interpreters to desist from illicit drugs usage noted that sensitization
exercise became imperative in the wake of rising concerns overuse of drugs in
the country.

His words: “The sensitization
has become imperative because of the prevalent situation in the country as drug
abuse has become a pandemic. People on drugs have committed a lot of havoc by
killing, stealing, raping, and indulging in many terrible things”.

He continued: “The sensitization
programme shall be carried out on film locations in major state chapters of the
Guild across the country. All state chapter chairmen should work with their
state NDLEA team for this exercise in their respective states.

Actors should not prove
stubborn or strong-headed but cooperate with the NDLEA team during the exercise
and finally, I advise members not to indulge in drugs as the Guild will not come
to anybody’s rescue if caught in the act.”
